Dr Shaikh qualified in 1982 and went on to receive an MCPS (Anaesthesiology, College of Phsicians and Surgeons of Pakistan) in1991. Dr Shaikh then received a DA (UK) and in 1996 he achieved his FRCA.
Dr Shaikh holds a full time post as a Consultant Pain Medicine & Anaesthesia at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield Middlesex. Dr Shaikh also worked as a consultant at Whipps Cross Hospital. He was trained for ChronicPain Management at Whipps Cross Hospital London, Barts Hospital London, Royal London Hospital and South-End on Sea Hospital Essex.
Dr Shaikh's special interests are in managing acute low back, thoracic (mid and upper back), and neck pain as well as other spinal nerve problems. Dr Shaikh also covers Musculo-skeletal Pain, which includes sprains, muscular tender points, sports injuries, inflamed and osteoarthritis joints and arthritis joint pain.
Chronic pain is the main special interest of Dr Shaikh and this includes areas such as neck pain, thoracic (mid and upper back), chronic low back, muscle pain and osteoarthritis affecting large joints (hip, knee, ankle and shoulder).
Dr Shaikh can offer a wide range of techniques to treat these conditions which include advice, medication and instructions on exercises, education and advice about pain issues, facet joint injections, nerve root blocks/dorsal root ganglion block and injections for other joint areas etc.
He is experienced in the field of managing neuropathic pain iincluding RSD/CRPS and full range of radiofrequency procedures, which are either neuro ablative or neuromodulation therapy.
